A great night

On Saturday night, I went to Chelsea's house party. I arrived a little late so I went to the jacuzzi they have in their house immediately. There were some Spanish and some English people in it. Later some friends of the English people's came to the party as well. In the end we were nearly twenty people in the jacuzzi. We have pictures of the partybut we aren't going to publish them.
After that we sang with singstar Spanish people vs English people, and of course we won.

A LITTLE CALF WAS BORN...

My exchange partner lived in a farm. There were lots of cows and calves. The first day, after having dinner, her father came and said:" Daughter, could you help me? Enric, would you like to see a very interesting thing? I agreed and they asked me to wear wellyboots. Then, we went to the stable and I saw my mate and her father pulling with a rope. They were pulling a little calf which was being born! It was a different experience. Living in a farm was "curious".

The day we arrived at Bridgewater my host mother was waiting for me. Then she drove to the supermarket and said: "I'm going to buy some mushrooms" and she came back with a bag full of sweets with the shape of a mushroom. My first dinner there consisted of peas which I hate. I have to say that I ate them all.

DESTINATION: BRIDGEWATER

At midday we caught a coach in order to get to Burnham-on-sea. The trip lasted 3 hours. In the coach there was a woman offering all kinds of chocolates and drinks. There was an old woman who ordered lots of everything. She was surprised when she was asked to pay. She was so surprised that she gave everything back. When we got to Bridgewater, our host parents were waiting for us. It was raining cats and dogs.

Meeting our host parents

Our host parents picked us up to go to Burnham-on-sea. My host mother drove Angi, Kim (Angi's exchange partner) and me to the respective families. The woman couldn't stop laughing
(Angi and I thought she was a little drunk). As it was the first day and we couldn't understand almost anything we didn't know what she was laughing about. When we entered the first roundabout and I saw it was the other way round I was about to faint.

The third day we were told that the Queen of England was opening the Houses of Parliament. This happens once a year. The Queen was supposed to leave Buckinham Palace at 10.00. We were late because we wanted to visit Marble Arch before, so we stared runnig crazily across St. James' Park. As you can see in the picture below, we got it. We saw a very little Queen, her husband and Princess Ann. The Royal Band played the British anthem and immediately after they played the music of James Bond. After that we had a picture taken in front of Buckingham and went to the hotel to pick our suitcases to travel to Bridgewater were our host families were waiting for us.

Later, we saw the famous Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. After that we got into one of the cabins in the London Eye. From there we had a fantastic panoramic view from London. As we were there, we were told that we were going to be taken a picture so we did "sticky nose".

Afterwards, we went to Leicester Square four hours before the Première of Casino Royale, the last film of James Bond. Can you see the red carpet? The Canadian television interviewed Wendy. They asked her if she liked how the new James Bond looked like. She answered: no, not exactly. Then the interviewer asked her: what would your type be? And she was about to answer YOU (the interviewer) but she stopped herself from doing it.

We're still on the second day. We saw the Tower of London from outside. At that time it was raining a little bit.

The second day we caught the tube (our hotel was near Queensway and Bayswater) to get to Saint Paul's Cathedral where we met Tony Deahl and his wife Wendy. Tony helped us a lot with our trip. Afterwards, we crossed the Millenium Bridge to go to the Tate Gallery where we tried the slides. In the Tate some of our boys met some pretty girls and ... here's the picture. We also saw the Tower Bridge. We walked along the Thames' shore.

Hi! We're back. We've been to England from the 13th to the 21st of November. We spent the first two days in London. The rest in Burnham-on-sea and surroundings. It's been a wonderful experience for everybody. Let's see what our students tell us about.

At 6 o'clock in the morning, we met all together, parents, teachers and students to go to the airport of Reus in private cars. We flew Ryanair and there was no delay. The flight was fine and we landed in London Stansted approximately at 11 o'clock. There there was a bus (a Mercedes Benz) waiting for us to bring us to London. We got to the hotel at 14:00. One of our teachers
threw up in front of the hotel. Look at our hotel! Nice, isn't it? Well, it was a very cheap hotel, so we didn't expect much but look at this:

We had lunch (our own sandwiches) in the common room of the hotel. We had a short rest and went to the Museum of Natural History.

We had a very long walk crossing Hyde Park (see photos above). We spent two hours inside.

On our way back to the hotel we went along the street where Kensington Palace is. It was very dark, there were almost no lights and Albert enjoyed himself a lot frightening us. At night we had supper at Pizza Hut.

Our Trip to England

ANECDOTES

My father is from Sevilla. So he speaks with an Andalusian accent. One day he showed her a dish with lettuce and said: "Ehto é leshuga. ¿Quiére oli ar tomate? ¡Zi, que'tá mu bó!" Obviously, I had to translate everything to her, because it sounded like Chinese to her.
One day in the morning I was half asleep and I forgot to give her her sandwich for lunch. She was so shy that she didn't tell me. Later I apologized, but she always said "It's Ok".
The last night my father said to her: "You're almost like a daughter to me", in Andalusian accent and mixing Catalan and Spanish up so I had to translate once more.
On the 13th, 14th and 15th of October we had bank holidays. So, we had a lot of free time know the region. On the 13th of October they went to Barcelona. They liked it a lot! My mate, Emily, told me that she loves Barcelona, because it is very beautiful. The monument she liked best was "La Sagrada Familia" and the Cathedral. They went shopping and they caught the double-decker touristic bus.
On the 14th of October they stayed at home with our family. We and my partner went to visit my uncles, who live in the country. She enjoyed the visit because she likes animals a lot and my uncles have a dog, ducks and hens.
On the 15th of October we went to our countryside and she tried paella. When she was about to try paella, my mother asked her: "Do you like rabbit?". She was shocked because she thought that rabbits were just pets... Not food! After all, she liked paella.
And on the 16th of Octobrer at half past six they caught the train. Unfortunately it was time to see them off. See her in November!
ANECDOTES:
The week was amazing, we laughed together, we enjoyed ourselves a lot, we danced. Actually, we had a very good experience. During the week, we could find out their hobbies, their ambitions, and their way of thinking. The first day we had cod for supper, she tried it, and told us she didn't like the dish because it had onion. Finally, the following day she told us that she didn't like fish at all. The second day she slept without a pillow because she didn't find it. My mother had told her where the pillow was the first day. The next day, when we went to sleep, she was making a lot of noise, and my mother asked my sister to go and see what happened. She was looking for her pillow again. My sister gave it to her, and we could finally sleep all night. We were a little worried because she didn't eat very much. Later we discovered that she was all day eating chocolates. She told us she liked cheese and my mother used to prepare cheese sandwiches for her. The last day we went to see her off to the station. When we tidied up her room we found two sandwiches in the cupboard.
